We chose try and film the Therapist's Office scene in Lara's house, but it did look too much like a living room instead of an office. The footage wasn't all that good either because we didn't have a lot of time to film. We are thinking of using our Headteacher's office, but that is quite messy and looks too much like a boardroom, or the interview room which is more comfortable but not too relaxed.

We went out to film the park scene, this time with Yuden wearing her proper costume, which we decided on as she looks pretty crazy, running half naked in a field when it's really cold. We've tried filming this a few times, however it hasn't looked that good, due to the ending. We can't get the right kind of ending, whether Yuden should run off to the side like in Get Out, or keep running past the camera so it look like she crashes into it. If we choose the latter, we can't get her close enough to the camera to make it look as though she crashes into it. To combat this, we've tried to use another lens, but we weren't zoomed in on the right place, we could see her face and it got blurry the closer she was. It would look better if we were zoomed in on her clothes, so it would create almost like a blackout to transition into the next scene. If we do not get a chance to film that again, the footage we got is good enough.
We filmed the proper classroom scene with a whole class. It was difficult to get a lot of people that would film for us and trying to organise everyone, but we managed to get a lot of footage. We filmed using Ilsa, making the tracking shots very smooth as we used her electric wheelchair. We did have to get two different groups of people, because a lot of the original load left as we couldn't film as our whole group wasn't there, but once all of us arrived, there were enough people to make the classroom look full. A big problem with the footage we get was that we had to do one continuous shot and move the class to the back of the room, which we didn't realise we could see in the refection of the whiteboard. It means we are going to to have to edit it so that is not so obvious.
We went out to film the dinner scene in a restaurant called ' Carnevale' in Old Street. We weren't sure where to film within the restaurant, as it was very dark in one area, then light in another, and we wanted it to appear as late in the evening, but it would've been too dark to film in the main restaurant area. e settles on using the LED light, which I had to hold while Navid filmed. It actually went really well and we got some really good footage even though we only had around an hour to film because the restaurant was going open and people were going to start coming in. We'd basically rearranged the whole place to make it easy to film, so we had to make sure we got it back to normal before the owner came to tell us to leave.
One bit that we struggled with was the throwing the drink in Jeremy's face, as this wasn't pleasant for our actor
We went to practice the classroom scene, as we struggled to find enough people to film it when the room is full. We had help from Ilsa, who was able to create smooth tracking shots by using her wheelchair. We got a lot of the shots we needed, but we need to replicate everything with a class in the room for the glitching scenes.
We've decided to have Yuden act rather than me, as she finds it easier to act out the image of the protagonist, while I am happier to film. We've been out to film the bathroom scene with her this time and got all of the footage we need. She did her make-up, which was mascara smudged and we used water from the taps to make it look like she was crying, as well as making her cry by keeping her eyes open for a long time, as that made it more realistic, it made the mascara run better.
We were't sure how to film the bit with the character banging her head against the wall, which was the only main problem we had while filming this time. We weren't sure whether to act it as the character being really tired, have her still crying hysterically or to have her with a neutral expression, which would've made the scene really creepy. We tried all three and filmed them, but we think either the crying or tired one looked better. We are going to pick once we've started editing. Yuden and I went to film the bathroom scene. It was quite productive as we got a lot of footage. We just need to see if all of it is usable. It does look good so far. However, there was one key shot that we failed to get done due to time constants. We will go back and film it as soon as possible. The shot we want is of the protagonist banging her head against the wall, which is also quite hard to do with hurting or wimping out... which I learnt today. The rest seemed to go well and we tried out a lot of the make-up, like putting mascara on and smudging it and making look like I'm crying. |
