This week, we had to present our pitches for the group film. We all got up at the front and explained our ideas, mine was a pyschological film about a crazy stalker girl constantly stalking her ex boyfriend. We all then voted on who's we wanted to make, I liked Yuden's pitch because it had an element of pyschological horror as well as being quite stalker-like and interesting to film and Daniel's pitch, because of it's Jack the Ripper idea in a modern setting.
Once the pitches got picked we had to go to the 'leaders' and pitch ourselves to them, saying what we believed we would bring to each group. I focused on talking about camera work because that is what I believe I am strongest on and gave some ideas on how certain bits could be filmed. In the end, Daniel chose me, Yuden and Shane to be in his group.

During half term, I had to research several horror movie openings so I get a real feel of the way horror movies are constructed, especially it is important for me because I do not normally watch horror films. I analysed The Woman In Black, Halloween and Gone Girl due to their differences in sub genres- The Woman In Black being a period horror/gothic horror, Halloween being a traditional slasher and Gone Girl being a psychological thriller- and different techniques used within them.
I have also finished researching horror sub genres, finding out about each one. There are many like Slasher, Splatter and Phycological, but there are ones I have never heard of like I never realised Zombie Horror is a sub genre. The directors and production company research is finished as well. |
